Riding on robust sales, the country's biggest two-wheeler maker Hero Honda Motorstoday reported a 95 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 597.14 crore for the second quarter ended on September 30, 2009.
The company had a net profit of Rs 306.30 crore in the second quarter of FY'09, HeroHonda said in a statement.
During the quarter under review, the company sold 1,183,235 units against 972,095 units in the same quarter last fiscal, registering a growth of over 21 per cent.
"With over 59 per cent market-share in the domestic motorcycle market and with sales of over a million units for the second consecutive quarter, the robust top line growth has largely contributed to the strong bottom line growth," the company said in a statement.
Total income rose to Rs 4,128.15 crore during the July- September period of the current fiscal from Rs 3,255.93 crore in the same quarter last year, up 26.78 per cent, it said.
For the half year ended on September 30, 2009, the company has registered a growth of over 23 per cent at 23,02,222 units as compared to 18,66,339 units in same period last fiscal.
The company's total income in the first six months of this fiscal rose to Rs 7,881.88 crore as against Rs 6,053.09 crore in the corresponding period last year
